Health Guidance for Ill Students

The winter season coincides with an increase in viruses and other illnesses within school communities. Please review Health Guidance and Resources for Families. In addition, if a student becomes ill during the school day, the school nurse will determine, based on the student’s symptoms and the nurse’s professional clinical judgement, if the student needs to go home. School nurses will work with school administrators and supervisors to ensure that students who are not well enough to stay in school are not sent back to class.

The Staten Island Museum offers TWO exciting camp opportunities this summer.

Earth Camp is for adventurous kids, 8-13 years old who love science! Earth Camp takes place at the Staten Island Museum on the grounds of Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanical Gardens.  Campers will study pond life, investigate animal tracks, and learn about entomology (the study of insects).  Over the course of two weeks, Kids will explore the local wetlands and woodlands with walking trips to nearby green spaces.  In the afternoons, campers will spend time indoors building science skills and connecting with the natural world through the Museum’s collections and hands on STEAM activities.  Each camper will receive their own field discovery kit and keep a scientific journal to record daily observations. Click here to register

In addition to the Staten Island Museum’s Earth camp, the Staten Island Museum also hosts STEM Matters NYC summer camp. For more information on these camps and to sign up, please visit STEMMattersNYC website (link https://nycdoe.campintouch.com/ui/forms/application/camper/App ) or email [email protected].
